Beach Music Festival - 2005 - 24th Annual Beach Music Festival

Once again, we had beautiful weather, great music and a ton of fun with good friends.  The bus was full of the regular beach music-lovers and several newcomers this year.  Fellow Mogul Mashers in attendance were – Lisa B., Betsy, Roy, Buddy, Wayne & Debbie.  This was a first for Roy, but I can guarantee it won’t be his last.  He even tried to pay me when he got off the bus so he would have a reserved spot next year.  Upon our arrival at Wayside Park, one of Wayne’s old classmates met us and presented him with a “Birthday” shirt that said “It’s Great to be 53” on the front and on the back had “Wayne’s World Tour, Bus Trip to Stuart, Virginia Beach Music Festival, June 11, 2005”.  About 30 minutes later, one by one, these same shirts started popping up on the bus crew members, much to Wayne’s surprise.  Everyone got a big kick out of this.  We had people we didn’t even know coming to us asking for a “now-famous” Wayne’s world t-shirt.  So if you were lucky enough to get one, hang on to it, I’m sure it will be a collector’s item.  The rain held off, as always, until on the way home.  Then it poured part of the way.  However, we were serenaded (if that’s what you want to call it) by Marsha and Ed…..all the way home…..non-stop!!!  A good time was had by all!  You can check out this year’s pictures on the Beach Music website at www.beachfestival.com. You may see some familiar faces!!!!   Next year’s date has already been set for Saturday, June 10, 2006, so mark your calendars and Don’t Miss it!!

On June 11 we once again made the annual trip to Stuart, VA for the Beach Music Festival. For those who have never been before, Wayne Bays arranges a bus to take us there as well as providing ETMM-type refreshments. It had been several years since I've been on the bus trip and I had forgotten just how much fun it is.
Having never been much for details when I'm on vacation, I don't remember the names of all the bands that were there or the order in which they performed but one thing I do remember is that ALL of them were excellent! The weather was perfect and there was a huge turnout at the festival. I divided my day up by dancing in the crowd, standing next to the stage for a few sets, strolling through the crowd, and even sneaking in a long nap in the sun. The people at the Festival are a unique group as they treat everyone as if they were old friends.
For a one-day trip, the Beach Music Festival can't be beat! We had the perfect mix of people on the bus, which made the trip itself a big part of the fun. We even got to drive right thru downtown Mayberry. Mark your calendar for next year's trip, and be sure to send your money in early as the bus fills up quickly.
