The weekend of November 4-6 a few of us ETMMites ventured to Asheville for the
Fall Crescent Ski Council Conference. It was a fun-filled weekend, starting off
with a much needed Happy hour at a local ski shop. We browsed the pre-season
ski equipment specials to gear up for race season, had plenty of finger foods
and beverages, and got to mingle with the other Crescent members. Some of the
ski industry representatives who help us with our trips and racing were there to
join us for the weekend as well. On Saturday, there were plenty of workshops to
attend; a great presentation was given by Jim Cottrell of the French-Swiss Ski
School to help us with our skiing technique. He definitely enlightened many of
us with the "new" way of skiing on shaped skis. We even got to attend a
workshop on waxing and sharpening our skis to hopefully reduce our race times.
For those interested in long distance trips, a presentation of the upcoming
Australia/New Zealand trip was given leaving no doubt that it's the trip to
attend for some great adventure and beautiful sights. Later that evening,
Ullerfest was in full swing with live music, dancing, wonderful food and drink,
plenty of company, and an inferno of skis. There's no way that cold weather and
snow can't come our way after that celebration fit for a God!
Sunday was a day for our officers to get together to plan
events, Thanks to all of them for their hard work and dedication! Without them
our winter season would just be cold. Meanwhile, the hot tub bubbled for one
more moment of relaxation prior to the drive
home.
